싱가폴계 미국인 작가 Kevin Kwan의 Crazy rich 시리즈의 첫 번째 책 Crazy rich Asians의 내용을 영화화한 작품이다.
메이저 할리우드에서는 최초로 동양계 미국인만 출연하는 영화로 크게 이슈가 되고 있다고 한다.
